Petronio Chumacera Umali Obituary (1943

Petronio "Tony" Chumacera Umali, 82, of Jamaica, New York, peacefully passed away on October 17, 2025, at Presbyterian Hospital Queens. He was born on May 31, 1943, in Tiaong, Quezon, Philippines, to Felix Umali and Carmen Chumacera. Tony relocated to New York 48 years ago, where he became a dedicated parishioner of St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church. Throughout his life, he was known for his unwavering commitment to his family, his faith, and his work. Tony worked as a bookkeeper at Petrocelli Electric Company until his retirement. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, Elena, and their children, Lana Theresa and Eric. He was also incredibly proud of his granddaughter, Heavenly Umali, who brought him great happiness. Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Elena Umali; his children, Lana Theresa Umali, her husband Ramon Garcia and Eric Umali; his granddaughter, Heavenly Umali; and his siblings: Guillema de la Cruz, Lope Umali, Vicente Umali, Fe Atienza, Rufino Umali, Angelita Namuco, and Gil Umali, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Umali and Carmen Chumacera; his siblings, Ponciano Umali, and Bernardo Umali. Tony's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy of faith, kindness, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. All are invited to gather for funeral Mass at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 150-75 Goethals Ave., Jamaica, NY 11432 on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 2:30 PM, with visitation to follow from 4:00 to 9:00 PM. Additional funeral service will ake place in Tiaong, Quezon, Philippines under the professional care of Zuasola Funeral Homes - Philippines. Interment will be at Liwag Cemetery at a later date.
