He loved animals and at one point, cared for 30 chickens, pheasants, and bantam silkies. He enjoyed his last years with his two beloved cats, a nine year-old Siamese cat named Coco and a three year-old American short hair cat named Catriona. He is known for his spontaneity, untamed free-spirit and passion for knowledge through reading, travelling, and watching documentaries.
Dennis was an avid gardener and his garden included his favorite plants such as persimmon and fig trees, hydrangeas, peonies, and pine trees, which he cultivates with pride every year.
He enjoyed spending time with his niece and nephew, enrichingthem with music, movies, and cultural experiences. He recently became an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Armela Manas; brothers Henry, Hector, his wife Luz, and children Lauren and Kevin; sisters Susan, Shirley and James Gaffney.
