Asterio Maglasang Palang, 75, of Roselle Park, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, dedication, and love for his family. Born on August 10, 1950, in Consolacion, Philippines, he was the beloved son of the late Basilio and Paz Palang. Asterio built a distinguished professional career and faithfully served as Senior Vice President of Primerica. Through his leadership, integrity, and commitment to helping families achieve financial security, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Asterio found his greatest joy in his family. He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren, delighting in their milestones and everyday laughter. He enjoyed reading and was especially passionate about sports and finance, often watching games, following market trends, and engaging in lively conversations about both with friends and loved ones. He was the loving husband of Josephine Palang and a proud, devoted father to Lauren Palang Dering and her husband, Steven Dering; and Brian Palang and his wife, Jaclyn Palang. He was a cherished grandfather to Nathaniel Francis Dering, Nora Josephine Dering, and Austin Joseph Palang, who brought immense pride and happiness to his life. He is survived by his beloved siblings: Bernadita Desierto, Francisco Palang, Luz Yuzon Ellis, and Milagros Capuno. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tomas Palang. Asterio was also a proud member of the Beta Sigma Fraternity - San Carlos University Chapter, where he formed lifelong friendships and upheld the values of brotherhood and service. Asterio will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, his generosity, and his deep-rooted faith. His life was a testament to perseverance, compassion, and love. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Zuasola Funeral Homes, 101 Union Ave., Belleville, NJ 07109. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 2, 2026, 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 120 Prospect St., Nutley, NJ. Cremation will be held privately.
